How We Use Facebook and Instagram Tracking Data

We use the data collected by Facebook and Instagram to improve your experience and ensure our advertising is relevant to you. Specifically, the data is used for:

  • Targeted Advertising: Facebook Pixel allows us to show you tailored ads based on your previous interactions with our website. For instance, if you viewed a product but did not complete a purchase, we may show you an ad with that product.
  • Conversion Tracking: We use data from Facebook and Instagram to track how successful our ad campaigns are. This includes tracking actions like purchases, newsletter sign-ups, or visits to key product pages.
  • Audience Creation: Facebook and Instagram data helps us create lookalike audiences or retarget users who have previously engaged with our website, ensuring that our advertising is more effective and reaches relevant users.
  • Ad Performance Measurement: Facebook and Instagram tracking allows us to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns in real-time, giving us insight into what works and where improvements are needed.

Timeframes for Data Retention

The data collected via Facebook and Instagram tracking tools is retained for specific timeframes:

  • Website Pixel Data: Data collected by the Facebook Pixel is retained for up to 180 days. After this period, it is either deleted or anonymized.
  • Ad Interaction Data: Facebook and Instagram retain ad interaction data (e.g., clicks, likes, shares) for up to 90 days, after which it is aggregated or anonymized for long-term analysis.
  • Custom Audiences Data: Any custom audience created based on user interactions with our website or social media platforms is kept for up to 180 days, unless you opt out of targeting or data collection.
  • Device and Browser Information: Device data, such as IP addresses and browser information, is retained for up to 90 days to help us optimize the website experience and ensure security.

User Privacy and Data Protection

  • User Data: Information such as geographical location, device type, browser type, and operating system. GA4 may also track the user’s language preferences and screen resolution.
  • Behavioral Data: Tracks user interactions with the website, including page views, time spent on pages, clicks, scroll depth, video plays, and form submissions.
  • Event Data: GA4 captures event-based data such as purchases, product views, add-to-cart actions, and conversions (i.e., when a user completes a specific goal like submitting a form or making a purchase).
  • Traffic Sources: Tracks how users arrive at our website (e.g., through search engines, social media platforms, email campaigns, or paid ads).
  • User Engagement: Monitors how users interact over time, including return visits, time spent on the site, and interactions with specific elements like buttons or links.
  • Demographic and Interest Data: Aggregated data regarding user demographics (e.g., age, gender) and interests based on Google’s advertising features.

How Foberry Uses GA4 Data

Foberry uses the insights provided by GA4 for several key purposes:

  • Website Optimization: GA4 helps us identify which pages or elements of our site are performing well and which areas require improvement. This allows us to make data-driven design changes to enhance user experience.
  • User Behavior Analysis: By understanding how users navigate our site and what actions they take, we can refine content, improve navigation, and make the website more intuitive.
  • Marketing Campaign Analysis: GA4 tracks the effectiveness of marketing campaigns by measuring user interactions and conversions. This data helps us allocate resources more effectively and target our marketing efforts where they yield the highest return.
  • Cross-Platform Tracking: GA4 enables us to track user journeys across devices and platforms (e.g., desktop, mobile, tablet), ensuring that we can understand how customers interact with Foberry on multiple devices.
  • Audience Segmentation: GA4 allows us to create segments of users based on behavior, demographics, or traffic sources, which helps us tailor marketing campaigns to specific audiences.

Data Retention and Timeframes

GA4 offers flexible data retention options that allow us to store user and event data for different timeframes. Foberry adheres to the following data retention policies:

  • User Data: GA4 allows us to retain user-level data (e.g., device information, demographics, and interests) for 14 months. After this period, the data is anonymized or deleted from GA4 systems.
  • Event Data: Data related to specific events (e.g., purchases, page views, button clicks) is stored for up to 14 months by default. After this period, GA4 either anonymizes or deletes this data.

  • Custom Reporting Data: Any custom reports or metrics created within GA4 are also retained for up to 14 months, depending on the underlying user data. Aggregated custom reports remain accessible as long as needed.
  • Demographics and Interest Data: This data, collected from users who have enabled Google Ads’ personalized advertising, is retained for 14 months before being anonymized.

User Privacy and Data Protection

Google Analytics 4 follows strict data protection guidelines to ensure user privacy. No personally identifiable information (PII), such as names, email addresses, or payment details, is collected or stored through GA4. Instead, GA4 provides anonymized and aggregated data that helps us analyze user behavior without compromising privacy.

Foberry also ensures that all user data collected through GA4 complies with relevant data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We have implemented IP anonymization in GA4 to ensure that full IP addresses are not stored or used for tracking purposes.

Opting Out of GA4 Tracking

Users have control over the data collected by GA4 and can opt out of tracking if they prefer not to be included in our analytics. There are several ways to opt out:

Foberry Google Ads Tracking Policy

At Foberry, we use Google Ads to optimize our online advertising efforts and track the effectiveness of our campaigns. Google Ads tracking allows us to deliver targeted ads to potential customers, measure conversions, and refine our marketing strategies based on user interactions. This policy outlines how we use Google Ads tracking technologies, the types of data collected, and the retention timeframes for each aspect.

What Is Google Ads Tracking?

Google Ads tracking uses technologies such as Google Ads Conversion Tags and Google Ads Remarketing Tags to track user actions and interactions with our ads. These tools help us understand the performance of our ads by monitoring key metrics like conversions, click-through rates, and user behavior on our website.

  • Conversion Tracking: This enables us to see how many users who clicked on our ads complete specific actions, such as making a purchase or signing up for a newsletter.
  • Remarketing Tracking: Remarketing allows us to display ads to users who have previously interacted with our website, reminding them of products or services they showed interest in.

Types of Data Collected by Google Ads Tracking

Google Ads collects various types of data to help us measure the effectiveness of our ads and optimize our marketing efforts:

  • User Interactions: Data is collected when a user clicks on one of our ads or views our website after seeing an ad. This includes actions like purchases, sign-ups, page views, and form submissions.
  • Device and Browser Information: Google Ads tracks the type of device (mobile, tablet, or desktop), browser type, and operating system used by the user. It may also collect data such as IP addresses and device identifiers to ensure accurate tracking.
  • Demographic and Interest Data: Google Ads provides aggregated data about the users interacting with our ads, including demographic information (age, gender) and user interests, based on their previous online activities.
  • Location Data: Google Ads tracks geographical information to help us understand where our ads are being shown and how users from different regions are interacting with our ads.
  • Traffic Sources: Tracks whether users arrived on our website directly from Google search results, through a Google display ad, or other traffic sources like organic search or referral links.

How We Use Google Ads Data

The data collected through Google Ads tracking is used in several ways to enhance the effectiveness of our advertising and improve user experiences:

  • Ad Targeting and Personalization: We use the data collected to show relevant ads to users based on their behavior, interests, and demographics. This ensures that our ads are displayed to the most appropriate audiences, increasing the likelihood of engagement and conversions.
  • Conversion Tracking and Optimization: Google Ads tracking allows us to monitor how well our ads convert users into customers. We track actions like purchases, newsletter sign-ups, or product views to optimize our ad campaigns and ensure a higher return on investment (ROI).
  • Remarketing: We use remarketing tools to target users who have visited our website but did not complete a specific action (e.g., adding an item to their cart but not purchasing). By serving ads to these users again, we aim to encourage them to return to our site and complete the action.
  • Ad Performance Analytics: The data helps us measure key metrics such as click-through rates (CTR), cost per click (CPC), and conversion rates. Based on this analysis, we can adjust our bids, target different keywords, or modify ad content to improve performance.

Timeframes for Data Retention

Google Ads allows for flexible data retention policies to ensure compliance with privacy regulations. The following are the key timeframes associated with the retention of Google Ads data:

  • Conversion Data: Data related to specific conversions (e.g., purchases or form submissions) is retained for up to 90 days. This allows us to track the success of ad campaigns and attribute conversions to particular ads.
  • Remarketing Data: Remarketing data, which tracks users for retargeting purposes, is retained for up to 540 days. During this period, we can show personalized ads to users who have interacted with our site.
  • Aggregated Reporting Data: Non-personal, aggregated data used for reporting and analytics may be retained indefinitely, as it does not contain any identifiable information.
  • Demographic and Interest Data: Data used for audience segmentation based on demographics and interests is retained for 90 days after a user interacts with our ads. After this period, the data is anonymized.
  • Search Query Data: Google Ads keeps search query data (keywords that users enter into Google that lead them to our ads) for 13 months, allowing us to analyze trends and optimize keyword targeting.

User Privacy and Data Security

Google Ads takes user privacy seriously and follows strict security measures to protect user data. All data collected is aggregated and anonymized where possible. Personal information, such as names, email addresses, or payment details, is not collected by Google Ads without explicit user consent.

At Foberry, we ensure that any personal information collected through Google Ads complies with privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Users are given the option to consent to or opt out of Google Ads tracking, and we do not use sensitive data for targeted advertising without explicit permission.

Opting Out of Google Ads Tracking

Users have several options to opt out of Google Ads tracking and control their data:

  • Google Ads Settings: Users can visit the Google Ads Settings page to manage how their data is used for personalized ads. This includes opting out of targeted ads based on their interests or demographic data.
